So sad to hear of this passing.  Mr. Ikeda was one of my favorite teachers at ZAHS.  Have so many fond memories of him.

The image of Ikeda-sensei was always as a gentle and kind soul.  His smile was genuine and from the soul.  He was also a very patient teacher as he consistently offered opportunities to learn the culture and language.  Teaching Japanese to kids who thought they already knew it as they spoke it and lived in the country couldn't have been anything less than frustrating.  Yet he took it all in stride with the grace, honor and zen-like compassion that represented his spirit.  We remember you, we appreciate you, we honor you and thank you for your dedication to us, your students.  Duke '77

I took my first programming classes from you back in 1980 on one of those Radio Shack TRS-80 computers and it has opened up a whole new world for me.  Thank you Mr. Ikeda for your patience and grace. You always seemed to be a rock no matter what turmoil was happening around you. You are one of the few people that I think of who may have actually cracked the secret of life. smiley
