Julie Lee Gaebe October 26, 1947 — November 26, 2021

Julie Lee Gaebe Julie Lee Gaebe, age 74, passed away at home on November 26, 2021. She was born on October 26, 1947 to the late Herbert and Olive (Franck) Gaebe in Giessen Germany, during her father’s military service there after World War 2. She attended schools in Kentucky, New Jersey, Arizona and Maryland, and in 1965 graduated from Zama American High School while living in Japan. After graduation she attended Johnson and Wales University in Rhode Island and then went on to graduate from Southern Illinois University with a degree in Special Education. She touched countless lives as a skilled, caring and committed Special Education teacher for 38 years. Julie was a world traveler and lifelong learner with interests in Buddhism, yoga, meditation, women’s rights, volunteer work and politics. Her travels included visits to Peru, India, Turkey and Croatia. Julie had a large family of friends in Greenbelt, MD, including two “adopted” goddaughters, Alexis and Erykka Thompson. She is survived by her brother Thomas Gaebe (Bobbie) of Petaluma, CA.; two sisters, Jan (Gaebe) Donnelly of Cleveland, OH. and Laurel (Gaebe) Henderson (Artie) of Lexington, KY.; four nephews, Denny Donnelly of Cleveland, OH., Eric Henderson of Atlanta, GA., Steven Gaebe of Napa, CA. and Kurt Henderson of Orlando, FL.; and two nieces, Christine (Gaebe) Wilson of Chico, CA. and Pamela (Henderson) Jordan of Lexington, KY. Julie was a loving light for all who knew her and will be deeply missed.
