I'm very sad today with this news...

I just found that Gayle Steele has passed. She was a wonderful friend to me in high school. We rode the bus to and from Zama High and spent that time gossiping and singing Beatles songs. She had a slew of different colored crew neck sweaters that I borrowed quite often. One year we went to the Far East Basketball Tournament held in the base Field House. We both wore berets which we had found on sale in th PX. You know we paraded around! We used to play 45's in her room after school and  practice new dances  I can still see her smile and hear her laughing  We exchanged a few details about our lives over the past few years on this alumni site  It's an amazing thing about the world we now live in..the chance to reconnect or at least to know a little about the lives of our old friends. It's wonderful that Gayle had such a rich full life.  I am very sad that she has passed, but I will remember her forever

I am so saddened to learn that Gayle has passed.  She was one of my best friends when we lived in Japan - 1960 - 1963.

After I connectedd with Bill Root I found out that she was on Facebook - so periodically we would message each other.

I shall miss her a lot.  She was such a wonderul wonderful lady.

I can only echo those comments about the wonderful, charming, lively Gayle.  She is one of the very few from Zama High whose high spirits have often sustained me.  She sang "When you walk through a storm" at my commencement ceremony, and I have remembered it ever since...

I dearly miss Gayle one of my first friends I met in Zama in 1962. One of the best times we had was in GAA and Pep Club. Also our climb up Mt Fuji. We got back in touch 30 years later   Facebook kept us in touch on our family and friends from Zama. Such a sweet lady. RIP Gayle 💐❤️
