I was saddened to hear today that Tony had passed back in 2003. Although we weren't close, when I thought about Tony all these years later, what I do remember was that he was a nice guy that never bothered people. I recall that there was a 'looseness' about the way he carried himself and his demeanor. I always thought 'that is one cool guy.'

I hope that the Heupel family, relatives and his friends find comfort in knowing that those of us who knew Tony at Zama High School, will hold his memory with high regard in our hearts.

I am so sorry to hear of Tony's passing; especially at such a young age. Tony was the sweetest and kindest person I knew from ZHS. He was that way with everyone...

I remember that he worked at a pet store in one of the department stores off post in Zama or Sagamihara... Another testament to his gentle nature and the all round good guy that he was.

I can only imagine how much his wife and family miss Tony....He will be missed by those of us who knew him at Zama High School.

I was shocked to just find out after all these years.  Last I saw Tony was at the Las Vegas reunion around 1989(?) when he was voted the clear winner of "Most Changed".  I recall his gentle soul and caring heart.  I'm sure his family misses him but cherish what they shared.  On behalf of all of us at ZHS that knew and respected him as well as those who still don't know of his passing, please know that he was respected and liked by everyone.  Bless you Tony and may you watch over your family as their guardian angel.

My condolences to the Huepel family as I'm only just seeing that Tony passed in 2003.  I will always picture Tony as he was over 32 years ago when I saw him even though I had seen him in past reunions.  Always tough to see people pass...moreso when from your past.  I'm glad there is this forum to update on fellow classmates. - Brian

Thank you all for your lovely comments regarding my brother.  The upcoming Zama reunion will be my 1st and the hardest since Tony will not be by my side.  WE miss him dearly but he would want me to have fun in DC this weekend with all of you.  Tony was my rock.

thank you again for all of your comments.

A toast to Tony.  He was there in spirit and lives on in our hearts.  He will always be part of the Zama Family.  And as we all graduate from this earth, we will all be together to share great times once again.  Cheers to Tony!  You were there at the reunion with us.  -clink-
