Kelly Jean Reed, 51, lost her valiant struggle against cancer on January 8, 2013. She passed away at her residence in Woodstock, GA.
Kelly was born June 26, 1961 in Colville, WA, living most of her life in Alabama and Atlanta. She earned a Bachelors of Science in Nursing at Jacksonville State University, a Masters in Pediatric Oncology and a Masters of Nursing Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, both degrees at Emory University. She worked several years at Scottish Rite and Eggelston hospitals. For the past sixteen years she was a Nurse Practitioner at Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine, P. A. (PAMPA). In her earlier nursing career, she was a faithful volunteer at Camp Sunshine. She served as a member on the national Board of Directors for Nurse Practitioner Certification. She was an avid cyclist, enjoyed reading and outings "to the beach".
Kelly is survived by her daughter, Juliana; father, Gary Reed, and stepmother, Melinda; stepfather, Frank Smith; brother, Lin, and wife, Tamera; stepbrother Richard and wife Kate; two nieces and one nephew. She was proceeded in death by her mother, Shirley Smith, and sister, Julie Ann Reed.
