Larry Gibson - Class Of 1964

Larry Eugene Gibson, 66, of Houston, Texas passed away on April 10, 2013. He was born on July 21, 1946, in Parkersburg, West Virginia to Eugene "Gene" Edward and Flossie “Marie” Gibson. The son of a U.S. Army Sgt. Major, Larry moved around a lot as a child. As a teen, he felt called to serve his country and spent four years in the United States Army, including an infantry tour of duty in Vietnam.

Larry married Virginia R. Schneider in Hampton, Virginia in 1968. He had a successful professional career in sales, which took him to Atlanta, then Houston where he owned businesses that provided fasteners to some of Houston’s largest companies.

Larry was a passionate patriot and friend to everyone he met. He was an avid golfer and after retiring in the late 90’s, he eventually followed his passion for golf by starting a custom golf club business where his services as a professional clubmaker were highly sought after by people from all over the country, including well-known Houston personalities and athletes. Larry took great pride in his work and could always be counted on by organizations who frequently called upon him for assistance with fundraisers. Photos and letters of appreciation were always proudly displayed on the walls of his shop.
